Then, there's releases that go viral and wind up being downloaded thousands of times.
So how do you know how many digital downloads to license?
Unlike with physical media, where you license the number of units you are manufacturing, there is a bit of guess-work involved with licensing digital downloads.
You know your audience better than we do. We recommend that you choose a quantity that you think will cover you for your first year of sales.
If you run out of downloads, you can come back and re-license with us. If you license too many downloads, you won't get the royalties of unsold units back.
At Affordable Song Licensing, we have a minimum of 25 downloads that we will license for you. This might be less than the minimum that your digital distributor requires, so be sure you know if they have a minimum amount of downloads required to distribute.
