You may have heard that you don't need a license to put your cover songs on streaming platforms like Spotify or TIDAL. That would be correct.
You see, the Mechanical Licensing Collective has blanket licenses in place with most streaming platforms and take out any mechanical royalties owed to the rights holders prior to you receiving any streaming revenue.
However, digital distributors (think RouteNote, CD Baby, etc.) will often require you provide them documentation that shows you have obtained a license from someone like us to distribute digital downloads.
